I also hate when people shorten things :-)

I mean it's ok for "brb" and such in a game, but "are" is really not a long word to be shortened. And we are also not in the hassle of fighting here, so we don't have to shorten things.

In my opinion you may shorten things as means of showing an accent though, but 'r' is not a word in any case (not even accent XD)

Personally i dont have any issue with people shortening things up. i text all the time so i can read the regular or the shortened with ease.
